A merger with Universal Cable (M) Berhad led to the eventual formation and listing of Leader Universal Holdings Berhad (LEADER Group) on the Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad. This consolidation strengthened operational scale and continued growth in the regional cable manufacturing industry.

Leader Universal Holdings Berhad (LEADER Group) was listed on the Malaysia Stock Exchange (back then known as the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange). The Group expanded to become the largest cable and wire manufacturer in Southeast Asia and ranked among the top 40 global manufacturers.

Entered into the first Power Purchase Agreement with Electricité du Cambodge for a diesel-fired power plant in Phnom Penh. This established the Group as Cambodia’s first Independent Power Producer (IPP), marking our entry into the regional energy sector.

Expanded operations in Cambodia’s energy sector with the first coal-fired power plant (2009) and first transmission line concession (2010), leading to the formation of the Leader Energy Group – now a regional renewable energy entity.

HNG Capital’s hospitality portfolio expanded further with the launch of Seed by Whitegrass and Ling Long at The Five @ KPD in Kuala Lumpur, alongside Dew by Whitegrass in Singapore.

In 2025, the Group unveiled its second hotel, The Millen Penang – a 146-room property inspired by the legacy of Millionaire’s Row, once home to Penang’s affluent tycoons. The hotel also houses Blacklinen, a standalone dining concept within its premises.
